  1. pangaea

  2. Well Africa was the first continent which had humans..so I guess you could say Africa.

  3. As the past answers have shown, all depends on one's defintion of discovered.  But if you use it in  the sense of how it has been used for the past 1000 years or so, I would say Africa, followed by East Asia.

This isbased on the fact that we are in a western society, and it was Europe that was the centre of society.  There had know for a long time that the Middle East & India, Northern Africa, and of course Europe existed.  But it was awhile before people starting venturing outside of this small area, and when they did the first "Full Continent discovered" was Africa.  To get to India they had to go around Africa, which they did not know at the time, expecting that Africa sort of ended about half way down.  So in that way to could say Africa.

Or some may argue the America's for obvious reasons, but based on that logic, Afrioca really should be the first.

  4. The continents were named by the Greeks, and they named their own continent, Europa, first, so you could say Europe. (The other two were Asia and Libya, strangely enough).

But probably the correct answer is Africa, because that's where humans first lived.

  5. africa

  6. Since all areas of the world had people living on the continents, it is unlikely any could be counted as the first.

Of course, the Europeans thought theirs was the only land that mattered so when Columbus discovered North America (or at least he landed on islands in N.A.) he thought he had found a new world.

Use of the word "Continent" is a product of convenience. Asia, Europe, and Africa are all linked as are North and South America.

Sorry, I'm sure these comments won't help get you any grade.

  7. Africa

that's where the first humans lived, so it would be the first one they knew about

  13. By whom?

  14. Probably the "Indigenous Australians", who discovered Australia between 40,000 and 70,000 years ago.

  15. Technically Africa, since scientists say that that was the place where the first humans had lived

  16. hard to say... even north america wasnt discovered by christopher columbus. there were already natives living there. however they had no idea that they discovered anything. I think this goes for all the continents, excluding antarctica. I dont know about that one.
