  1. According to one definition , the first recognizable social network site launched in 1997. SixDegrees.com allowed users to create profiles, list their Friends and, beginning in 1998, surf the Friends lists.


  2. I would say the family is the first . Then the tribe and then a village. The most famous I think is still the Roman Empire.
