  1. 1750's , Goshen ,NY . Harness Racing on Main St. is documented.

    1838: "Historic Track" was built.  If it isn't the oldest Harness track in US, it IS the oldest track in US that is STILL IN USE.

    Non-betting qualifying races are held there in the Summer.


  2. Freehold Raceway, in Monmouth County, N.J. is advertised as the nation's oldest harness race track. In DECEMBER 1853 - Monmouth County Agriculture Society was formed to hold an annual fair with harness racing in the Township of Freehold. It has been researched that racing was held at the same site as early as the 1830's.
