  1. a -f

  2. 1974 was the last year that O levels were graded numerically, ie. 1-6 was a pass and 7-9 was a fail.  From 1975, they were graded alphabetically, ie A-C was equivalent to 1-6, and D-F was 7 and below.  There was also a U (unclassified) if your paper was dreadful.

  3. And "X" which meant you mised the exam. That'll teach me to sleep in !!

  4. O Levels - A - C = equal to GCSEs A -C

    CSE 1 - 3 = equal to GCSE D - F

  5. In 1988, the O-level equivalent, was GCSE grades A to C.

Grade D was officially considered average (what?!!!)

Grade E and F was below that.

Grade U was unclassified (so bad it was even below the lowest GCSE grade - which would have had to be REALLY low!
