  1. 2005 Grand Final- Swans over Eagles- great footy from both sides and a nail-biting finish...awesome! That's the sort of game I love.

  2. saints vs. freo 2006 the siren thing

seriously my heart was beating so fast i could have died.

  3. i think the 1989 grand final hawks v cats

and being a bomber fan i also enjoyed the big come back vs the kangaroos

  4. if you ask me it's the 1980 grand final when tigers smashed the pies :)))

  5. i think best match was collingwood against geelong in the premlimnary final it was a great game it shatered my heart but was  the best game i had ever seen

  6. I would say the Pies vs WCE game in the prelim finals last year which finished in a draw and the Pies ended up winning in time-on - it was a nail biter and I almost passed out from the stress!!

    LOL @ Brooooce!

  7. The draw in the 77 GF and the replay. It is pure drama. North won, very good.

  8. every match that involved the Carlton footy club

  9. For me it was when the Eagles beat Sydney in the 2006 GF I nearly had a heart attack

I would also say the drawn GF match between North Melbourne and Collingwood my friend was getting married the next week and was a mad Kangaroo supporter and never imagined he would have to choose between his wife and footy team quite so soon into his marriage.

  10. I'm with quandary

    cats and pies last year

was the best game Ive ever seen

we lost but what a game

that game should of been the GF

not the tripe port dished out the next week

  11. There can be a number of different interpretations as to what a great game ism for instance a close game or for that matter a draw always has a certain edge to it.  As people have recalled the North, Collinwood Grand Final but it was only in the closeness of the score not from a purists point of view.

Then there was the classic shoot out of Carlton Richmond in the early 70's when there was 50 goals scored and I am sure that Sydney Swan supporters would say that there win of West Coast was their greatest game ever.

However the game for me was the come from behind Collingwood Carlton Grand Final in 1970.  Not only a great game but it revolutionised football.  From that point on, handball became a must do component of the game as well as a play on at all costs mentality.  So it was memorable for a number of facits.

As an aside it was interesting that the man behind this was today recognised at a book launch as an icon of Australian Sports  -  Ron Barassi.

  12. im only 16 so my greatest game probobly isnt really the greatest ever game as I dont know of any good matches in the '70's

but for me, West Coast v Sydney games over the 2 year period of '05 and '06 with the best of them been the '05 Grand Final for me.

i would say '06 but I was in a 747 going to Japan on the day of the game!!!! i was so angry that we couldn't go a day later!

so the greatest game I have WATCHED, 2005 grand final. greatest one that I have seen highlights of, 2006 grand final

  13. Quandry, that was Jimmy bloody Stynes who ran across and took away Melbourne's chance at premiership glory, I still maintain if we had got to the Granny we would have won it, oh well.

The best match I saw was the 89' Grand Final Hawthorn and Geelong, also the match they played earlier in the season at Hawthorns then home ground Princess Park, very high scoring game I think it was 179 Hawks to The Cats 159, great games.

  14. The 97 and 98 grand finals where the mighty crows rightfully claimed back to back titles to step into the record books

  15. It really depends who you support.

For me it was one of 3 matches. Watching the hawks come back from 60points down to beat the saints years ago at AFL Park. The 89 GF the walking wounded Hawks got home with no fit bench players and the 91 GF Hawks V West Coast at AFL Park.

  16. Well the prelim final (Cats/Pies) last year is the only one that's ever had me in tears but I'm biased.  I thought we'd lost it!

I think there was a prelim final between Melbourne and Hawthorn about 15 years back where someone gave away a fifty metre penalty after the siren to Buckenara (am I right?) by running across the mark.  That was pretty awesome/ devastating.

The Swans/Eagles gf a few years back with 'that mark' in the last three seconds.

The 1989 gf - it ALMOST had me in tears!
