PLEASE DESCRIBE YOUR MEMORIES

The game that I remember most was the last home and away game of 1987. We all travelled to the Western Oval and watched the Dees take on The Doggies.....

Gary Lyon Broke his leg ... and It could have been the GREAT Robbie Flowers last game of Aussie Rules.. Grinter was Brilliant. as was Little Ricky Jackson and in fact all the Dees..

The doggies were also Brilliant ...

BUT The Dees chances rested on Two other games .. and when Hawthorn hit the lead in their game .. all the Demon Supporters with their transistor radios let out a massive Cheer ..

the cheer confused the players who must have thought the siren had sounded but infact there were still minutes to be played...THE PLAYERS ALL STOPPED for a second or two ..

It was a most emotional game . .with all the OLD dees supported in tears at the final siren's sound ...

It was the game that sold me on Aussie Rules ..

  1. best game of aussie rules..... well, last week's showdown between Crows and Port would be up there. i suggest you somehow watch that if you haven't, it was a great game.

and yes, breaking your leg is excruciating

  2. 2001 at Telstra Dome, Geelong defeated Collingwood, first time I had ever seen the Cats win (not counting television, first time to see Geelong win, I was at the ground). I cried when the song was played.

Before the match, I spoke at a membership luncheon for Geelong. There were about 125 there, I followed Peter Pianto. Billy Brownless introduced me, I was the only member in North America of Geelong. I spoke for about 10 minutes, I was asked to relate my experience as a footy barracker in the USA. At halftime of that game, AFL Record took my picture and 3 rounds later, a paragraph about me and my picture were in a story about International fans of the footy.

  3. one that stands out was a few years back at the g, when Richmond were 52 pts behind the hawks and got up and won, about 6 years back, some where around that time, needless to say it was a big night in the casino, that night, left at 6 am. had a flight back home at 10am, in a real mess.

  4. Hawthorn vs Geelong at Princess park I think in 1989.

  5. During my life time there has been so many memorable games but,..................................

Tonights game, Brisbane Lions away to Port Adelaide,  ---  an unbelievable game. The Lions 47 points down half way through the third quarter, the rain came down like a waterfall and put extra life into Brisbane.

What a finish ! Brisbane won by 20 points. They just completly over ran Port. You had to see it to beleive it.

    THE FINAL SCORES:

    Brisbane Lions:  18 - 16 = 124

    Port Adelaide:     16 -  8 = 104

This game I will never forget.

  6. I am at a quandry as to which of three games I consider to be my most satisfying.

The three games were all grandfinals - & the West Coast Eagles won each of them!

  7. garry lyon on the stretcher that was sooo funny!!!!.

  8. For me the best game I have watched was in 2000 when Essendon went into the round 17 clash unbeaten and not likely to lose for the rest of the year. Western Bulldogs came with a plan to force them to kick for goal outside the 50m or not kick at all. Bulldogs flooded like the Wilson River in Lismore and it worked. I couldn't believe it but the Doggies won.

  9. um, the first game i eva watched was collingwood and essendon anzac day last year. collingwood became my fave team after i saw that game. the first time i eva saw Dale Thomas as well. but im not guna talk about him because he played not so good yesterday even though he got two goals.
