  1. Gotta go back a ways and say the trade the Leafs made to get Doug Gilmore from Calgary. Outright thievery.

Oh, and give me a couple pounds of that "Old Chuck", Eddie. As you can see I want some of those eggs pretty bad, especially since Bill pickled them.

    Opps deviled them, never mind!!!!

  2. In '97 the Detroit Red Wings got Brendan Shanahan for Keith Primeau and Paul Coffey.

    Bonus: Garth (The) Butcher

  3. For my favorite team, Paul Coffee and Keith Primeau for Brendan Shanahan

Not my favorite team but: On May 15, 1967, the Bruins acquired Phil Esposito, Fred Stanfield and Ken Hodge from Chicago for Pit Martin, Gilles Marotte and Jack Norris. was an impact on the league for 10 years!

    Second part the WINGS

  4. When the Wings traded Paul Coffey and Keith Primeau for Brendan Shanahan.

  5. Recchi for Leclair and Desjardins

Khabibulin....sounds like some sort of grilled sausage or bratworst

  6. Sabres stealing Hasek from Chicago

Looking back on the Sabres, especially the past few years, its easy to question how bad their management has been.

nobody reminds me of of a BBQ, but when I hear Wings I could sure go for some hot chicken wings

  7. Traded: colby armstrong, erik christensen, mark recchi

Recieved: Manrian Hossa, Pascal Dupuis, Hal Gill (toronto)

This was a great trade...it go us to the finals for the CUP :]

  8. Best trade by Oilers:

    Esa Tikkanen for Doug Weight.

    Worst trade by Oilers:

do I have to mention Chris Pronger? *sigh*

  9. Brendan Shanahan for Scott Stevens.  True, Shanahan was a great player, but Scott Stevens was better, especially for the Devils.  Stevens has never had a minus season in his entire career.  He was a 13-time All-Star player, in 22 seasons, lead the Devils to three Stanley Cups and was the Conn Smythe winner in 2000.  He landed hard, clean checks, was a +377 in his career, and had 908 points as both a defensive and offensive defenseman.  He truly changed the Devils.  Stevens was an amazing captain - he lead by example (his hard work, selflessness, and devotion to hockey), vocal leadership, and the respect he commands from both his teammates and other players.

This is what Stevens said about never winning a Norris Trophy: "For the most part, it seems to go with the guy who's got a lot of points... I don't think about it as much as I used to. I've been asked to play a certain role here, which doesn't help in that area.  But I feel that gives the team a chance to win every night. That's the satisfaction I get."

Stevens is willing to sacrifice his talent and not getting the utmost stardom he deserves for the betterment of the team.  That is a true captain, a true player.  So yeah, I'm happy we got rid of Shanny for him :-)

Marc-Eduard "Pickles" Vlasic reminds me of BBQs.  Lol.

  10. best trade- the Sabres got Hasek from the Chicago Blackhawks

  11. In 1960 Detroit tried to trade Red Kelly to the New York Rangers. Red refused to accept the trade. Four days later he was traded to Toronto for Marc Reaume. Red led Toronto to Four Stanley Cups in the next eight years. Marc played 77 games in the NHL over the next 10 years.

Toronto has made many trades over the years that was the best trade ever.

Second best was Cash to Ottawa for King Clancy but even that was before my time.

  12. well scottie upshall is my favorite player so i like when they traded forsberg for upshall and parent

  13. the stars trading kevin hatcher to the pens for zubov!!!! best trade ever!!!!

  14. probably the best trade the Sharks made was getting Joe Thornton.

as for the bonus: i have no idea

  15. I'd have to say the trade in 1996 when the Stars got Sergei Zubov from the Pens for Kevin Hatcher, he has been on of the key players in all the Stars accolades. Also, when we got Jere Lehtinen

  16. Ottawa Senators trade of Patrick Eaves and Joe Corvo for Mike Commodore and Cory Stilman.

Best BBQ name is R.J. Umberger.

  17. For the Wings

The Shanahan trade like others mentioned,

but I thought the trade to get Chelios was pretty good, Chelios for Andres Erikson (sp?). Bet Chicago didn't think Chelios had this many years left in him.

  18. the one that brought zubov to dallas

o and i 2nd DC how could i forget that?

  19. I'm sure my team has made better trades in their hundred year existence than the one I'm going to describe, but one that sticks out in my mind, and in my lifetime, is when we got Kovalev. It's nice to see that he found his stride again this season.

  20. The best trade I've seen the Red Wings make was when they traded Paul Coffey and Keith Primeau to Hartford to get Brenden Shanahan just before the 96-97 season.  Coffey only played another couple years although Primeau turned out to be a good player for the Flyers a few years later.  Shanahan turned out to be the final piece to the puzzle for the Wings Stanley Cup success.

A trade that I've never been able to figure out was when they traded away Adam Oates to the Blues to get Bernie Federko back in 1989.  Federko had a lot of good years in St Louis but the Red Wings missed the playoffs and he retired a year after Detroit got him.  Oates would go on to be very successful the next few years and have several 100 point seasons in the 90's.  The Wings probably would have won the Stanley Cup a few years earlier than they did had they not made that trade.

  21. Huet for a second round draft pick in 2009.  I know it's premature and we might not even have Huet past July 1st, but my god if that's not a steal i don't know what is.

Also Robert Lang for Thomas Fleischmann and a first round pick which later became Mike Green.

Dustin W-don't forget your team also traded away Gretzky :).  Sorry just thought i'd rub some salt in the wounds.

  22. I make especially nice one's for Pens fans.....

The "goodest" trade was the one that landed John LeClair and Eric Desjardins.

The "worstest" trade was when the Flyers needlessly shipped Mikael Renberg to Tampa Bay after signing Chris Gratton.

  23. Lightning acquire Nikolai Khabibulin from the Pheonix Coyotes for Ruslan Zainullin, Mike Johnson, Paul Mara, and a second round pick.

Bonus - Brent (Hamburger) Burns of the Minnesota Wild.

  24. Ottawa's trade that got rid of Yashin to the New York Islanders for Chara, Muckalt and a first round pick which turned into Spezza

  25. The Trade that the habs made to give the Kings a goalie and some other help to ensure that the Kings would finish ahead of the seals, thus insuring the seals of finishing last.  Montreal had previously acquired the Seals pick and wanted it to be first overall to draft Lafleur.

To get Russ Courtnall from Toronto for John Kordic was probably the most one-sided but not greatest.

Worst trade- Leclair and Desjardins to Philly.

Bonus Andre "moose" Dupont.  You have not had a BBQ until you have had Moose on the grill.

  26. The Wings haven't had to make too many trades in the last several years, so I would have to say the trade for Brad Stuart. They didn't give up much for a top quality D man.

HHMM, now how do you get thumbs down on this kind of question/answer???

  27. when the rangers picked up sean avery
