  1. Frosty D is the closest.  Edmonds was tired of the Chicago media asking him whether or not he felt welcome with Cubs fans after all his years as a Cardinal.  In frustration with reporters he basically said I am a Cub now and my Cardinal days are past.

LaRussa took the statement out of context and in defense of the Cardinals brand took offense.  He is somewhat being bull-headed about the issue and did not seek Edmonds out when he returned to St. Louis the first time.  The Cardinal fans, of course, did the right thing and gave Edmonds a standing ovation.

To correct some other answers, Edmonds was traded to the Padres in the off-season.  The Padres cut him after a slow start and the Cubs plucked him up.

  2. I know Jim Edmonds personally and he's a jerk. I do not see how anyone could get along with such an ******.

  3. the gm of the cards idk who it is

thought jim edmods was overpaid and just another coughed up veteran that has run out of gas

this aparently offended edmonds who later got picked up bye the cubs whos initial plan was to sign him cheap see what hes got and if nothing use the newly aquired (at the time) reed jonson

  4. I'm a Yankees fan but last week I was on vacation in Tampa and I met a Cardinals fan and she said Edmonds and Rolen were just players who played for themselves and not the team.

When you play in a city as passionate about its baseball like St. Louis or New York you HAVE to PLAY for the TEAM!!! YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!! (Sorry I'm so pumped about Brett Favre coming to my Jets that I had to quote Herm for a minute)

  5. The Cardinals felt Edmonds had passed his prime years and decided it was time to part. Edmonds's agent was told to FIRST look for a deal with the Cubs (to stir up some c**p, no doubt) and it just escalated from there.

  6. Nah man, just p**p.

  7. Yea he can BALL it up

  8. Today after Edmonds hit the first of his two home runs of the day he was batting right handed and after he hit the homer he watched it for a while and then forcefully threw his bat at the opposing dugout in the direction of La Russa as he begin his trot around the bases.

  9. its not between the cardinals and jim edmonds, fans loved the time he spent here and he loved playing in St. Louis.  But there was some beef between him and LaRussa, apparantly because of the things he said about the ball club when he was traded.  LaRussa didnt exactly say anything bad, but when media asked about Edmonds he just didnt want to talk about it.  I think he was going for a psychological warfare type of thing, after Edmonds' playing the way he did for the cardinals theres no way you could dislike him.  But if you saw yesterdays game maybe you noticed the way he thew the bat at the cardinals dugout, way at the cardinals dugout which is highly unorthodox.

  10. Youth Movement 2008 has been a disaster for the Cards so far with Edmonds pouring it on the Cardinals.
