dmaud56 (on best fight movies) said Raging Bull was full of too much "Guido" c**p. Buddy, the Italian fighters of that era were exactly as depicted in that film. So were the managers, promoters, and wiseguys who had a piece of one fighter or another and controlled who could or could not get a title shot. Really true to life. More so than even in Rocky. LaMotta, Graziano, Tony Pallone, Tony Galanto, Joe Miceli, Willie Pep, Tammy Morriello, Charley Fusari, Tony Jannero, etc. all came from the streets and could only get somewhere in those days by fighting. These guys mostly never saw the inside of a high school. They had to earn what they could to feed their families. Mr. dmaud56 really should not think of them as "Guido-c**p". I grew up in the Italian section of NY and met a couple of these fighters through my step-father who was one of the hungry "Guido" boxers of the 1940's.

  1. Oops!  I think you were looking for the Yahoo "Statements" section rather thanYahoo "Answers"

  2. There are not many Italian pro boxers in the usa currently, are there ?  I have only seen one, but can't remember his name.  It is dominated mostly by hispanic and black fighers, I think. I would want to see more Italian fighters coming back to the top in the usa.

  3. what is the question?
