Andrew was the last category 5 to hit the US in 1992. It had apressure of 922 mb and susteined winds of 165-170mph. The one prior was H. Camille in 1969 and the most poewrful in recorded history was the 1935 Labor Day storm was a cat. 5 with pressure near 890 mb.
