Have travelled the world quite a bit but food in tourist traps or restaurants is often not what you may eat at a local family home.

Interested to hear what people eat around the world for a normal weekday dinner at home and where they live.

I will award the points to those that make me hungry for dinner at their house with a dish I have never had. Maybe even a simple dish I have had with a local twist!

  1. Northern Saskatchewan Canada....we are known for excellent hunting and fishing! SO going with that theme.....

    Moose Stew & Bannock

My Husband made  the Moose Stew......small chunks of Moose Meat that almost melt in your mouth(very tender), potatoes, onions, garlic, carrots, celery, peas, kernel corn, celery, bit of pepper all simmered for a few hours in a gravy!!

Served with freshly baked Bannock(Bread that First Nations People have been making for years and years also known as Indian Fry Bread altho I bake mine as I do not like all that fat!) Bannock is something everyone has to try, it is so good when it is hot out of the oven with a little bit of butter and we even put strawberry jam on it when we are not eating it as part of our meal.

If you were not told it was Moose prior to eating you would think it was beef! This has to be one of my favourite meals.

We rarely eat dessert but when summer comes, we like rhubarb strawberry pie, or saskatoon berry pie!

Saskatoon Berries taste similar to a blueberry but better!!

  2. Start with fried pickles, then shepherd's pie, which is like seasoned ground meat on mashed potatoes with fried okra and black eyed peas, and red velvet cake for dessert

lots of sweet tea to drink
