  1. By all accounts The sword in the stone didn't have a name. It was his Father Uther's sword known only as the sword of the high king of Britain. He then broke that sword while fighting Lancelot. Calling on the power of the sword for the sake of pride it broke. He was so remorsful for usinbg the sword for an unjust cause that the lady of the lake (which was also Lancelot's Mother) Gave Aurther Excalabur as a replacement.
