  2. Atalanta had many exploits besides this one. She hunted the Calydonian Boar and was first to wound it, so Meleager awarded her its skin and head. She didn't marry him, but she had a son by him named Parthenopaeus who was a powerful giant and was in the Seven Against Thebes war with Meleager's brother Tydeus. Meleger's two maternal uncles were angry about his giving Atalanta the prize, so there was a fight, and Meleager killed them. A dream told Meleager's mother that he'd live only until a brand in the fireplace was burned up, so she took it out of the fire and put it in a box. When she heard that her brothers were killed by her son, she threw the brand in the fire, and Meleager died in a few minutes of a fever. Atalanta beat Achilles' father Peleus in wrestling. She went with Jason and the Argonauts to get the Golden Fleece.
