  1. There was an even earlier one than those posted (made in 1986) and was in animation form and was called "When the Wind Blows".  It told the story of two pensioners and their implementation of the instructions received from the government, in leaflet/booklet form on how to "protect" themselves.  It made unpleasant viewing by way of its naivety.

It is available on DVD.  Last shown on Channel 4 in 2005.

  2. The day after tomorrow?

  3. A previous answerer has it correct it was "Threads" and it was about an attack on Sheffield, however it is a bit horrific and not really suitable for a twelve year old. I would suggest a cartoon version with the same message called "when the wind blows" which carries the same message but as it is a cartoon is not graphic. Take it from me as i am an ex youth worker of twelve years experience.

  4. Threads  based in Sheffield  caused a billion pounds worth of improvements

  5. "Trinity and Beyond" is a good one. Probably not in the stores, but you can find it on Amazon.

  6. Maybe you are thinking of "The Atomic Cafe"

  8. It's called ' threads ' and it's intense. It's available on torrent sites, I got it from btjunkie.com

  9. I think it was 'The Day After'

  10. Fat Man and Little Boy I think were good documentaries on the bombs dropped on japan.

  11. I think this is what you're looking for. The Race for the Superbomb that was on PBS.
