    As to the term "Roundheads," Parliamentarians (palimentarians) were nicknamed "Roundheads" not due to helmets but because they cut their hair very short. They also wore very plain and simple clothes.  These distinguished them from the King's Cavaliers (horsemen) who typically had long hair and wore fancy clothes.  Please see:
