  1. I believe that for the most part they were unaware of western culture, at least the particulars.


  2. First off, what is "the nature" of a culture is a really vague question, and it's not one that most anthropologists are in the business of answering. Second of all, Igbo culture *is*, not "was".

    Are you interested in a particular aspect of Igbo culture? What do you want to compare to Western cultures, specifically? I mean, they're two very different things . . . and there's so, so much that is different that it can't all be boiled down to the "nature" of a culture.
