  2. It was the meteor, but it never saw combat. Give credit where its due, the German Me 262 was unequaled in air combat.

  3. The Gloster meteor DID see combat, it was reserved to the "Air Defence Great Britain" command, exclusively for V1 interception.

    The Me262 saw air=air combat, as did the He162.  On 1 Jan 1945, several RAF Tempest pilots, engaged some He162s and shot down one.  Unfortunately, the combat records of JG1 (the He162 unit) are lost.  Maybe some day we'll recover them and see how effective this aircraft was.  

    Post-war, Allied test crews were very impressed with the He162.  But considered the Me262 to be the better gun platform.
