What was the problem with it?

I've always heard about the game in 1972 when the Soviet Union beat the USA team in basketball, and I've heard that it was a controversial game. What was controversial about it? I have never heard what the problem was.

A bunch of fogey conservatives were crying because the soviet union and their superior physical skills had beat them.

Not enough black people on the American team, probably.

The game ended and they put time back on the clock.  They gave the soviets the ball again. This happened three times before the Soviets won.
