What was the purpose of the constitution?

I have a worksheet i have to do for homework about the constitution but as i was reading i couldn't seem to find 6 purposes for the constitution so can someone help me out.

  1. The answer your teacher might be looking for would be the purposes named in the Preamble: to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.

    I prefer to say that there are 4 main purposes to the Constitution:

    To authorize the federal government to exist,

    To dictate its structure,

    To delegate to it its powers,

    and To impose some rules upon the state governments about what they cannot do.


  2. For conservatives, it is the basic and fundamental basis for all our laws.

    For liberals, it's something they use as toilet paper routinely.

  3. The purpose of the Constitution was to set a basic rule of law foundation for the U.S. that put power in the people's hands and giving them the power to decide the future of their country,and it's economy as well as it's law system.
