What was the purpose of the constitution?

I have a worksheet i have to do for homework about the constitution but as i was reading i couldn't seem to find 6 purposes for the constitution so can someone help me out.

I prefer to say that there are 4 main purposes to the Constitution:

To authorize the federal government to exist,

To dictate its structure,

To delegate to it its powers,

and To impose some rules upon the state governments about what they cannot do.

For liberals, it's something they use as toilet paper routinely.

The purpose of the Constitution was to set a basic rule of law foundation for the U.S. that put power in the people's hands and giving them the power to decide the future of their country,and it's economy as well as it's law system.
