  1. I believe the Kosovo situation had a lot to do with it.  Montenegro wanted to move on and benefit from it's potential tourism boom and didn't want to be held back by Serbia, who it felt may jeopardise this.

  2. Western intention to weaken Serbia through shrinking it's borders.

P.S.Montenegro without Serbia is doomed, vast majority of investments in Montenegro come from Serbia, tourists are from Serbia,Montenegrins go to Serbian colleges and schools, etc. And it is Montenegrin mobs that steal money from Serbia rather than Serbian politicians stealing froom already poor Montenegro.

  3. everything you need to know about serbia and montenegro you will find here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbia_and_...

  4. It is because Montenegro always had a slight autonomic status...and they decided a few years ago to go separate ways, because they can do it by themselves...Serbia is in big problems, and they wanted to step out of it and go their own, better way, to have some better future...

And they don't want the Serbian politicians to steal all their money:)
