  2. Of Spain? I thought he was Catholic cause Mary I of England was betrothed to him for a long time. Instead she married his son who was Catholic.

    You could say that his son married the Catholic Mary of England. The English people despised the Spainiards and therefore found a reason to justify their Protestantism.
