  1. Well, the SEATO Treaty was the one that got us into... we didn't sign one to get us out.  We just left.  Our planes are much faster than their junkboats, so we were able to cut and run pretty effectively.

The U.S. signed a peace treaty with North Vietnam on January 23, 1973.  It was called the Paris Agreement.  The Agreement said the U.S. would come to the aid of South Vietnam if there were violations.  South Vietnam signed with that assurance and because Nixon said all military aid would end if they did not.  Of course there were violations but the U.S. never came to the aid of South Vietnam.  Congress was ready to cease military funding even without a treaty.  The treaty was only a way for the U.S. to get out of the war.  It was known that collapse of South Vietnam would soon follow.
