  1. This is the history book label for the government of Germany between WWI and Hitler. It is a period of high inflation and unemployment because of two things: the wealth of the country is siphoned off to pay war reparations, and prior to WWI Germany was the arms merchant for the world.

  2. The Weimar Republic was the name for the government that was put into place shortly after the First World War. Kaiser Wilhelm II had been exiled and since there was no sensible person the Triple Entente wanted in power, they designed a group of officials who were deemed sensible and would not spark anything off in Germany.

  3. Weimar was a period in Germany beginning after the first world war in 1919 and continuing until Hitler became Chancellor in 1933.  the Weimar government was a loose government put in place mainly to pay reparations as part of the treaty ending WWI.  This government was a liberal government that soon disenfranchised the people because they were encountering MASSIVE inflation so bad that the workers would insist on being paid multiple times a day to rush to by food while their money was still worth something.  This lead to an environment that Hitler was eventually able to capitalize on and rise to power.
