What was the world like in year 1601?

I'm doing a school project and I have to act like I'm a British Publisher trying to get British Citizens to move to North America. What were some good things in this year?

Money wasn't invented in those days. People used to BARTER. You would probably have to persuade people to believe that North America is better than Britain.
