  1. The Americans making such a big deal about losing the Gymnastics.

  2. Butterfingers, I was mad after that happened. Just plain sad.

  3. I honestly think the biggest "lowlight" of the entire Olympics is the complete disregard for the rules of competition displayed by the Chines gymnastics team.  Not only do i believe they corrupted the spirit of the games, but they insulted the intelligence of sports fans around the globe.

"Sore loser" (as one poster mentioned..if they are referring to the gymnasts) has nothing to do with it.  They are called RULES for a reason.  Does the same poster find it acceptable for a Derek Jeter to compete in the Little League World Series?  The fact the gymnasts are younger than the other competitors is irrelevant; if they are not abiding by these rules , what other rules are they disregarding?

P.S.  In case you think I'm anti-Bejing games or something ridiculous, I will add that although unfortunate that a certain little girl (singer at opening ceremonies) didn't get her five minutes in the spotlight, is it really that different then the entertainment industry in the U.S.??  I mean, when is the last time the winner of American Idol was unattractive?  (I don't mean they have been super models, but..)  Point is, the Chinese O.C. may have taken the idea of "beauty" and applied to someone a bit young, but, I really don't think it was that big of a deal.  We all want to see "attractive" people, they just got a little carried away.

Nice job, loser!!  A thumbs down for my opinion?? It was an opinion, wasn't it?  Did I state any facts that you proved to be inaccurate or false?  Did I provide some flawed documentation of something?  Nice job!!

B.T.W.: I missed the canoeist hurling on the podium...jeez!?!?

  4. Chinese gymnast getting the gold. Half of the team isn't even old enough to be there, so they got a lot of golds that they shouldn't have.

I guess the judges didn't want to have any problems leaving the country.

  5. Sore losers on Yahoo Q&A

  6. I hated all the controversies about China's female gymnasts and all that c**p about that singer that wasn't really the singer she just lip sang while a not so cute girl sang her little heart out.

  7. our relay teams

  8. The US men and women's 100m relay heats were absolute disasters. I was shocked.

Edit:  In all fairness, the Jamaican women not only dropped the baton in the 4 x 100 relay final but also messed up Great Britain's chances.  That was pretty bad.

  9. I tasted American wine as well as British. They are so good. I missed French wine.

  10. I think it was when a Hungarian weightlifter, Janos Baranyai dislocated his elbow. It was really gross. Here are some pictures if you want to see it.  Go to: http://www.bestweekever.tv/2008/08/13/th...

  11. (1) the person (some coach's dad I believe) that got killed by a deranged Chinese person the next day.

    (2) The fact that no video podcasts of the events or day's summaries were available thanks to NBC and the broadcast networks. This forced a lot of people to either watch broadcast TVs or to skip the Olympics entirely.

  12. Liu Xiang injured before his first heat.

    Easily.

I know I sound biased for China, but internationally, this was easily the biggest story of the Olympics, as it involved the most popular athlete in the host country, and this wasn't even about him stumbling and not getting anything in the finals, this was him not being able to compete.  The most absolutely shocking event in the 2008 Olympics, by far.

Just imagine if the Olympics were held in the U.S., and Michael Phelps pulled out of the preliminaries of his first race.  Now multiply that shock by 10, because Phelps only gets as much attention as he does during the Olympics, but Liu Xiang is hailed China's most popular athlete throughout each year.
