  1. Yeah and Manny was bringing the whole entire team down.  We were getting rid of Manny this year anyways and we'll have Bay for a while. He's still young. If you don't understand why we traded him you must not know much about baseball. It has nothing to do with his on-field performance, but with his off-field c**p!

  2. Stop living in the past. Jason Bay is statistically just as good as Manny. Manny is 36, Bay is 30. Bay is locked up for a lot cheaper for more years and puts up just as good numbers. Look at the stats. Ken Griffey, Jr used to be a great hitter too then he got old. Things change, get to 2008.

What was Theo thinking? Obviously he is thinking smart, thinking about the future, as well as salvaging this team to make a push for AL East. Have you noticed they haven't been playing too well? Manny has been a big part of that with his antics.

  3. addition by subtraction!!!

  4. I think that Theo's Ego may have played a factor in trading Manny. They should have waited the year out with Manny then let him go!

  5. Theo was thinking, "get a former and future All-Star for a guy that has an attitude problem and doesn't want to play for the Sox anymore." Jason Bay is also a clubhouse leader and very involved in the community. After you see him play on a daily basis, you won't miss Manny being Manny!

  6. Jason Bay has nearly comparable stats to Manny this season, and Bay hasn't had as good of a lineup around him that Manny has had.  Manny wanted out of Boston, he wasn't going to play if he wasn't dealt.  Both manny and the sox were not happy so they got the most they could have gotten for him.  Bay will be a good player don't worry.  Hanson hasn't gotten any better since he was drafted, and there is no room for Moss on the big league roster anyway, much like the David Murphy situation, sure he is a great player, but there is no place on the red sox roster for him.

  7. Jason Bay is doing as well as Manny this season and Bay isn't going to get worse like Manny is.

  8. Gee golly, I know everyone loves Manny, but the guy was nuts. He dared the Red Sox for years to trade him, and his latest tirade including the phrase "Boston doesn't deserve me" pushed the envelope. Besides, they have a sick amount of home grown players that are studs in the making, such as Jacoby, Pedroia, Lester, P-bon, and others. The farm system is there to provide depth when needed, and with the second highest payroll in baseball, it's a luxury, not a necessity. They dumped salary and picked up a guy who will put up All Star numbers for the next several years in return. Not too shabby if you ask me.

  9. He got rid of a headache for Bay who has similar stats like manny
