What was this cork-like material used in a park?

I was recently visiting a park in Birmingham, Michigan and they had sidewalks and patio areas all made out of this material that I thought was cork. I was very squishy under the feet and it looked just like a cork board except it was dyed red and seemed to be laid out in one large piece, almost like carpet would be.. I was wondering if that's a new landscape material and if anyone has used it or knows where to find it?

  1. It's a rubber padding made from recycled tires. It was actually developed for use in playgrounds. You might look up industrial supply places to find it on line. I have seen it on sale before. I can't remember where, though.
