In certain test match the team defending a small target of 85 had all but given up. However, a famous bowler refused to give in and said something to the effect of This can be done.......and it was done. He took 7/44 and the opposition was skittled out at 77, thus winning the test by 7 runs.It was one of the finest bowling spells in the history of the game. What was the event that followed?

  2. the bowler was Fred Spofforth, and i do believe the next day (or 2) the papers had on the back page the mock obituary marking the death of english cricket and that the body would be cremated and its ashes would be taken to australia (130 years later, we're still waiting for them!!), thus giving birth the the legend of "the ashes" which were won on englands next tour to australia where a group of women presented the now famous ashes and urn to Ivo Bligh, interesting big of trivia, Ivo Bligh actually married one of the women who gave him the trophy!
