I know there is like a book or set of documents that were released in either the late 60's/early to mid 70's that were made during the LBJ administration, which showed that johnson and the government deliberately lied to the people that we were doing well in Vietnam.Im pretty sure these documents are credited for giving people the strong distrust that they have for the government today.

  1. These were the Pentagon Papers. It took a Supreme Court ruling to allow them to be published, but at the time supporters of the war simply refused to look at them.

LBJ was a man of great compassion - my family survived because of his surplus food program - but he was also a rabid anti-Communist, something most people didn't know. The Vietnam War totally ruined his reputation.

  2. The Pentagon Papers.
