What was up with Djokovic?

So if you watched the end of the Roddick-Djokovic match last night, you heard Djokovic's comments on Roddick and the ensuing boos from the crowd. Basically what happened was Roddick had jokingly said earlier that Djokovic had 16 injuries so he (Roddick) had a chance of beating him. He said this because Djokovic had repeatedly called the trainer during his match against Robredo (most likely to rest rather than have a real injury examined). Djokovic said that obviously he wasn't injured and that Roddick had been rude to say that about him. Was Novak right in saying this or did he overreact?

I think he was right in saying this, it is a very serious accusation to tell a player that they are faking injuries especially if they just fought injuries to get through to the next match. I mean how would you feel if you fought through all this pain to win a match and then your opponent says you were faking it id be pretty mad if it were me.

Djokovic overreacted to Roddick's comments.

IMO Roddick did not mean that "he is battling 16 injuries" in a literal sense. Djokovic should lighten up and not take those comments to heart.

he was right in saying it..in the robredo game you can tell that noles hip was bugging him, so he called out the trainer...theres nothing wrong with that....but i do think the media played it up and they kept asking roddick about djokovics injuries, so of course he started joking because it gets boring saying the same thing over again ( h**l i would start saying dumb stuff like the sars and all that like he did) but nobody knows for sure if hes hurting but him...he did have 2 days to rest before the roddick game, so he healed up

You see, Roddick said that Djokovic had 16 injuries ( like Sars) ..

It's a bad joke from Roddick.. So Djokovic have the right to say what he want to say..

RJ is right. false accusation is bad.

but novak kind of overdid it a little. roddick probably was just joking a little to his fellow american crowd.

i don't remember novak and andy having serious beef, but i know they're not the closest friends either. so roddick threw a bomb and novak threw it right back.

if tennis is a gentlemen's sport, then people should play like gentlemen on and off the courts.

i think they should just get rid of this issue and look foward to see who will be the u.s. open finalists ^^

I'm a big Djokovic fan, but I gotta say that he might have overreacted.  Novak has always been known to poke fun at other players (remember the U.S. Open last year when he imitated Sharapova and Nadal?), so I don't see why he can't take a joke himself.  Roddick obviously said that comment in a light, joking manner (it was in no way a "serious accusation") and meant nothing by it, so I definitely think Djokovic's commnets were far from necessary.  With that said, some people need to give the guy a break.  I mean, he's 21.  He slipped up once.  He acted immaturely, but considering the mental and physical strain that he is in, I can hardly blame him.

But now that I think about it, this whole thing might not even be his fault.  English isn't his first language, so when he heard Roddick's comment he might not have picked up on the tone or whatever.  Although it is obvious to us that Roddick was joking, he might not have detected the jesting tone in Roddick's voice when he made that comment.

So I guess I don't really know what I think about it.  I don't think anybody can really condemn (or boo) Novak without being in his position.  So I'm still a big Djokovic fan.

he didn't overreact. Roddick is sometimes a little rude and crazy when he loses. Roddick thinks he's all good and believes in his self too much. Novak Djokovic did not overreact.Novak was right to say this.

well end result was arrogaunce meet arrogaunce.. the arrogaunce and caddy gesture of america meet the  eastern European arrogance, as eastern Europeans are more serious and they cannot handle certain negative comments without taking them serious..

They are both arrogaunt and they smashed heads.. but djovick does need to lighten up..... but oh well

andy roddick is rude and arrogant, and the american crowd played along with him, they are there to enjoy the match. whats up with the noises and disturbance during nole's serve etc. as a player u do not make fun of others injury, fake or not. that is so unprofessional. how many times have u skipped tournaments due to injury? its a shame, how many times do u play a year? grow up roddick, u never really lived up to the hype of a world class top player. u lost and please go gracefully.

Both of them are jerks. Andy Roddick was wrong of accusing Novak of faking injuries. That is the referee job, not his. Can he prove that Novak was faking it, if not then he should keep his thought to himself. Novak, on the other hand was making fun of other players all the time. It is OK for him to make fun of others but no one can poke fun at him?... I hope Roger beat him.
