What was up with the Olympic wrestling brackets this year?

I know that FILA has changed the scoring for freestyle & greco-roman wrestling recently, but when did they adopt the repechage brackets for bronze medals? Personally, I don't like it because it eliminates people who could have a legit shot at a bronze medal in wrestlebacks to only those that lost to the finalists. In other words, if you lost a tough match, then the guy that beat you lost to a finalist, better luck in 4 years.
