The moon behaved very oddly tonight (July 18 2008) in New Jersey along the east coast and I couldn't find anything about it online. At first it was a dark red full moon. Then it seemed to get smaller. Then it got bigger. Then it seemed to disappear all together (which was probably because of clouds). Finally it came back a yellowish orange tinge and the light it gave off kind of pulsated. I dunno. I read something about volcanic activity in alaska and there is supposed to a total solar eclipse in 14 days (aug 1st). dunno maybe has something to do with it.

  1. its an omen that there will be a huge earthquake in south america killing a lot of indigenous peoples. its a prophecy by bobby lake thom he made it in the 70's. of course theres the usual scientific explanation of "an eclipse"  but shiit you never know keep your eyes out for breaking news soon

  2. I don't know..I know tonight is a Full Moon and since it is July, it is called a Buck Moon or Hay Moon. (Each month's full moon has a different name.)  It sure is pretty to look at! :)

basically just a Full Bright Moon I think. This Website had some pretty cool facts about the names of the moons and why they are named that.

  3. Aww ****! Man a red full moon would be perfect for my demo cover goddamn it.

  4. Volcanic activity could have done it, or the pollution in the air. As for the shrinking and growing, it was most likely a light trick. It could also be the fact that it is so close to the sun (thus the up coming solar eclipse) that a wave from the sun momentarily changed it's colors and made it look like it pulsated. I could have been aliens lol. That night, 18Th July, I saw it do somthing strange too. I was outside looking at it and it had a trail of light, almost like a spot light, and it looked like the light was reaching for the ground. A few minutes later it was gone. I don't know what's up with the moon, but I am guessing the sun has something to do with it.

  5. What you likely saw was the moon's appearance changing as a result of atmospheric effects like low level inversions, changes in moisture/pollution in the lower levels.  As the moon rose, it's reflected light passed through these layers which acted to alter the coloration as well as briefly shimmered a bit due to small disturbances in the atmosphere.  I'll bet as it got higher up the effects settled down.

  6. I have heard  a red or orange moon means hot weather?
