For me I think it's when I went camping with my older sister when I was 12 years old. It was only a weekend, but we went canoeing and horseback riding. And we laughed the whole time we were trying to set up the tent. It took up almost an hour.

  1. My favorites were when I went with my uncle when I was like 10-13, because he used to go to the best campgrounds where there were alot of other campers and people and kids and we used to either go to other campsites and meet and visit with other people or have other people come to our campsite and visit. I thought it was awesome to meet different people and play with all the other kids wherever we would go!

  2. The first time I took my husband camping.  He had never been camping before.  Silly me didn't check the forecast before we went, and not realizing we were leaving from a valley that sits nearly at sea level and going up 5000 feet.  We were sadly under prepared.  We were driving up the mountain, in the dark, it's raining, winding roads.  We've got the kids, and the dogs with us.  I'm thinking that he's never going to want to go camping again.  We arrive at the campsite, set up the tent (in the rain, and dark).  Tried desperately to start a small fire so we could cook some hot dogs.  Had cold hot dogs for supper and turned in for the night.  When we woke in the morning, the dogs water bowls were frozen.  My husband managed to get a fire going, and made coffee.  That day it warmed up the sun came out and the next three days were wonderful.  He's loves camping despite that first night.

  3. My favorite was a camping/fishing trip in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. It was a new area to me at the time. A friend and I hiked to the backside of Lake Placid, stayed there for two days, and spent the rest of the week camping and fishing on the AuSable and Salmon rivers upstream from where they empty into Lake Champlain. The scenery is fantastic, the wildlife is abundant and beautiful, and the flyfishing on the rivers is great. Setting up a wilderness camp, cooking fresh caught trout and salmon over a camp fire, just enjoying all that this wonderous planet has to offer. Life doesn't get any better than that!

  4. Favorite Camping trip...haha...I was 12 years old. The church youth group camped on the river on Friday afternoon. The youth director tried to cut down a tree for firewood very near the rivers edge. The chainsaw got lodged in the tree. The tree actually fell into the river, but was not completely cut thru and the chainsaw was caught in the tree. So, A truck was chained to the tree to "snatch" it free. It begin to rain and the truck got stuck (bogged down). So, a farm tractor was brought in to "unstick" the truck. The farm tractor got stuck (bogged down).

So, now we have a farm tractor stuck to a stuck truck, hooked up to a stuck chain saw, stuck in a stuck tree which is half way in the river. They had to bring in an industrial size backhoe.

It's pouring rain, the farm tractor is stuck in the mud, stuck to a truck that is stuck in the mud, stuck to a chainsaw that is stuck to a tree that is at any moment going to crash into the river and drag said chainsaw, truck and farm tractor with it. Fortunately. the backhoe, unstuck the farm tractor, which unstuck the truck, which unstuck the chainsaw....and the tree floated down river never to be seen again...lol

  5. My favorite trips were when I was 10-12 and living with my dad.  We used to take trips to Lake Mohave and Lake Mead and spend the day out on our boat.  It was always more entertaining to be on the boat during the day.  Don't get me wrong, I love hiking and just lounging around the campsite, but I had brothers to drive me crazy.

When I was younger we'd got to Lake Casitas a lot.  It was always fun, but usually I would get annoyed at being the only girl amongst my brothers and cousins.  After awhile I'd get bored of being around them and just want to read or something, which of course set me up to be tormented.

  6. Two weeks camping in Iceland in 1980. It was sunny the first week but normal the second week. Despite that, it was a beautiful place. Expensive, but beautiful, even when just camping.
