I am 16 and I got my license in April, but have been driving my car since January, My big sister went everywhere with me when I had my permit.

It is a 1997 Ford Escort. I have a good paying job and want a newish car. The escort has no cd player and the cassette player is broken, no automatic windows and locks. I bought the car and I just want a new one.

I bought it for 2,380.

I might sell it for 2,000. A friend might buy it.

Then get a new car and make payments.

Should I wait or what?

What was your first car?

How long did it last?

Did it break or did you sell it or what?

Just lookin for some stories. Thanks. :)

  1. Mine was the 1989 Proton Saga Manual, now already almost 20 years and it's returned to my elder brother (since I'm more into using the bus)

  2. A 1970 Citroen 2CV.

A frenchman crashed it near my apartment building. He could not get anyone to repair it, since it was behind the iron curtain, and nobody had money to buy it, and nobody in their right mind would buy it. He abandoned it to me.

It made my sister seasick because it had one of those old Cadillac transmissions where it just floated.

It turned out it needed a new paint job and have its frame straightened to unlock the transmission. I got a visa to travel abroad and sold it in the czech republic for dollars.

  3. i have a nissan patrol worth less than 13000, got it for 14500

it is still lasting, backfires, and is a bit silly

i still have that car and has lasted me for about 4 years now, still going

  4. A 1976 Ford Cortina I had for about six months before it was written off by a drunk bus driver while it was parked.

  5. MY FIRST CAR WAS A 1984 PONTIAC 2000 LEE AND I WAS LIKE 17  AND I HADED FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND I GOT IT FOR 300 DOLLARS AND I SOLD IT FOR LIKE 150 I THINK LOL :)

  6. I had a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS with the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder and a 4 speed automatic.  It was my dad's car and I started driving it when I got my license.  I had it for about 9 months before I bought my own car.

That little Jetta was very reliable, but had the usual Volkswagen electrical issues lol.  The automatic transmission made it extremely slow, too hehe.  I had a lot of nice features like power windows, keyless entry, and a good CD player.  I kind of miss that car every now and then, but it turned me into a hardcore VW fanatic.  I drive a 2008 Rabbit Sport now and I love it.

  7. 1988 Toyota Supra, White, Targa, White w/ black leather, 160k but ran like a champ. Silky smooth I6. This was back in about 2001-2002.  Fun to drive, got lots of looks. Miss that car.
