  1. Oh wow...this was SO long ago...

It was the Willard's Wizzard at Marriott's Great America in Santa Clara, CA.

The Whizzer has long since been torn down. Rumor has it that it's still in operation somewhere...but I have not been able to confirm that rumor. Anyway, it was a rather simple coaster...no loops, no huge drops. It did have an unusual point of interest and that is that it had no restraint system...you were held in with G-force and your hands. It was also self propelled...each train had it's own little motor to power it up the lift hill, which was actually an upward spiral.

This was in the early 80s...at least 25...and closer to 30...years ago.

Any other coaster fanatics who are my age and have been to Great America in that time frame probably know about the Whizzer. Wow...what a walk down memory lane.

  6. Roadrunner Express at Fiesta Texas, in August 1997. Roadrunner Express is a family mine train style coaster. This ride isn't huge and doesn't feature any huge drops or hills. I freaked a little at first, but I had more fun watching my mom panic and cover her eyes. Once the ride was over I wanted more, and now I have been a coaster enthusiast for over 10 years.

  7. My first roller coaster was the Raptor at Cedar Point (ya weird choice for first coaster cuz it goes upside down like 6 times) but it was great. It was a good first ride because its smooth and it gives me a good impression of roller coasters.

  8. My first roller coaster also happened to be my first loop coaster also(d**n IT!)I was so scared but it turned out not so bad. Looking at it right now it's maybe the worst roller coaster it's really bad. Not fun at all.

  13. Well, probably the Dragon coasters, but those don't count really. It was Rockin Roller Coaster at Disney's MGM Studios (Now Disney's Hollywood Studios). But my first really huge roller coaster was Superman: Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great Adventure, and boy it was worth the four and a half hour wait in the 105 degree weather... But I wouldn't do that again. It was worth it when I was 8 though!
