What was your first step on the path to enlightenment?

Mine was freeing my mind from the prison of a religion.

I guess the first step is to "empty your cup." that is, let go of your opinions or preconceived ideas and be open to new information.

  1. Going thru depression...it helped me sort things out more clearly, because I was deeply motivated to find answers.

  6. When I finally admitted to myself that I was NEVER going to be able to be perfect.  

    That if I tried to "reach nirvana" on my own, I wasn't EVER going to make it.

    When I admitted that as a mere mortal, I knew nothing, and that God might possibly be there...

  7. Yes these are good steps, but then you form new ones and on it goes.

    Jesus established a church for a reason , that being we are not privy to private revelation. When i freed my mind from Atheism I became a Catholic and found there the logical outcome of a path lead down by Christ to be followed.

  12. That's a good step and it can also include allowing the truth to come in from religion practiced over the last 10000 years.
