  1. My first tattoo was a Tennessee Williams quote, "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages" And I did get mine before Angelina Jolie (or at least i didn't know she had it)

No I don't think tattoos hurt at all. For me, I researched exactly what and how a tattoo is done, and I reached the conclusion/justification that there was a limitation to just how much a tattoo could actually hurt. The anticipation of pain can sometimes be worse than the actual pain.

Oh I'm already planning another tattoo, I don't know where or what of though!!

    Tattoo's are very addictive!

I suggested to my very posh Doctor mother that she should consider getting one, alas the suggestion did not sit well! Her face was a mixture of abomination and anger at the mere suggestion. Me and my dad are thinking of getting matching tattoo's.

  2. I had my first and only tattoo in 1958 when I was sixteen and new no better.

Although it is no big deal, I certainly won't be getting another.

I've posted this photograph many times in answer to such questions, not to put people off, it's their business, but just to show how your pretty , colourfull and clear tattoo will look when you're older, you almost certainly will not be able to distinguish small writing I can't on mine.

If you do have one however, I would suggest having it in a place where it is not too obvious.

  3. I decided to have my first tattoo when My kids were in their mid teens. My wife was very dubious about the whole idea and tried to put me off for a long time. One afternoon she went out, leaving me to look after the kids. Seizing my opportunity I nipped out to the new local tattoo parlour in the village, which didn't last long, and had a back tattoo on my back. It is certainly not a painful procedure.

I was not going to tell my wife immediately, but couldn't restrain myself. In one of her rare flashes of humour she terned to the kids and said ' I leave you to look after your dad for 4 hours and look what you let him do!'

Since then I have added a large, stylised Aries the ram, my star sign to my arm and had the bad tattoo enlarged and enhanced twice, I also had one other done elsewhere.

  4. My 1st tattoo was a little cartoon indian (the only meaningless 1 I have), when I was 16 It didn't really hurt as it is on my belly. I now have 5 and getting another soon, They do hurt when you get them on boney areas though as I have found out over the years but they do become addictive.

  5. I got a dolphin tatooed just over the ankle bone. I could feel it but it didn't hurt as such.

Yes I would definately get another!

  6. My first tattoo was an anklet.  It is a Fleur-De-Lis above my ankle bone, then vines/small flowers going all the way around.  It did hurt, but not as bad as what I was expecting.  It just stings over and over again.

I would get another tattoo if I could find something that was meaningful enough for me to want to get. (ie. something cool with my kids' names or representing them)

  7. Well I didn't think it was going to hurt, so it didn't hurt at all that much. I think if you go in thinking it's going to hurt then it does :)

I designed my own tattoo, it's a kind of cross between a bird and a snake. A kind of mini feathered dragon flying from a broken book and the pages flutter down my spine.

I also have a single rose on the base of my foot (this was the one that hurt a bit, but the skin on your foot is very sensitive)

I might get another one. It would have to be something I really wanted as my tattoo's actually mean something to me.

    Hope that helped.
