Thought he was joking.  He said it on our first date (he was).  And then it took him about 3 months to say it and mean it.....

I have to share this one.  

My last boyfriend actually wrote "I love you" and showed it to me.  I was overwhelmed but then realized he couldn't say it to me.  I told him not to write it if he couldn't say it.  

The first time he said it for real, and every other time after, I got the feeling of butterflies and extreme happiness.

I couldn't believe that he loved me, out of everybody in the world..he actually loved me. That meant a lot to me

He was flying to England to visit family and it was our first separation.  I kept thinking, if something happens, I don't want him to die without knowing I love him.  I told him, and then kissed him really quickly at the airport, so he wouldn't have to feel awkward by not saying it.  Then he pulled back, put his lips to my ear and said "I love you too" and wouldn't look me in the eye (he's *really* shy).  It was the sweetest moment...and I just thought, "Wow.  This is really it."

My first thought was "Oh, thank god!". I just got a huge sense of relief because we'd been dancing around and avoiding saying it to each other for the month before.

I thought, well it's about time! I was my husbands first real relationship. He just had many, many, dates, and a few short time girlfriends. He said he felt something more special with me. Before he said I love you, everynight when we parted or hung up the phone, he would tell me sweet dreams. Then he added the I love you!
