  1. I've seen the book.  It's just an interesting comparison.

  2. Cats are very independent. They don't seem to do things unless there's something in it for them. I can see where my son is like a cat because he only does well at something if he see the value in it. Dogs are different because they seem to hang on everything that their master says where as cats could care less. Of course, i am speaking in very general terms here and it wouldn't apply to everyone.

  3. LOL that explains my Manx cat she is anti-social, does not like been patted more than twice (unless its me, even then I have to be careful), hates being cuddled unless its on "her terms", again only for me, if she deems to sit on anyones lap, it mine only, when called she only comes when "she" wants too, hates loud high pitched noises, won't look anyone in the eye, unless she is pretending to be cute and waiting for a sucker to pat her tummy.

However she is the most beautiful cat (see the pic next to my name), she's very intelligent, plays fetch for my husband, flushes the toilet, loves water, and can open doors to let the kitten out, growls like a dog if a tradesman or other comes to the door, stands her ground even to a dog twice her size (that is so funny to see), nips or swats me if hungry and does a number of other bizarre things.

The kitten was born in the wild, so she is skittish at the best of times, hates being cuddle, but loves sleeping on me (even though she is my husbands  cat), likes being patted some times, she too hates loud noises too.

Both hate my neighbours feral children, but the Manx will stand her ground, and will hiss, spit and growl if any they dare to pat her, the kitten just takes off to hide.

  4. No cats don't really have Aspergers :) . The title isn't made to be misleading. It is making a comparison between the 'Asperger LIKE'  behavior of cats and the behavior of people with Aspergers. It is a very friendly way to introduce the concept of Aspergers to kids. It is a great book.

  5. "Well d@mn.....then what do dogs have?"

  6. Dont take it so literally. Its just a silly comparison because cats are very independent, intelligent, and arent needy for attention and social interaction like dogs are. Cats are more aloof. I think the title is kinda funny. With so many people diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, i think its good to have a sense of humor about these things.

  7. Had not heard of it until now but thinking about how cats act it seems the some cats may have Asperger's syndrome.

  8. They sure act like they do.
