People who love tennis can usually recall a crazy rally, point, or incident that stands out in their fond memories of the game - kind of like a trophy or a battle scar. I once had a crazy rally in a 3.5 singles tennis match where we both end up at the net, hitting a bunch of quick volleys, when I accidentally blocked a ball up higher into the "kill zone" and thought, "c**p, he is going to smash it right at me!" And as he smashes it at me, all I could do was close my eyes and stick out my racquet in front of my midsection. When I open my eyes, I see the ball tick over into the corner of the court. I ended up losing that match in 2 sets, but I scored that point, that I will never forget.

  1. I was 14, in the finals of a ZAT tournament and playing the number 1 seed and my number 1 rival (I was seeded second at the time). I lost the first set 4-6, was down by 4 in the second but somehow managed to win that set. Her spirits were down. My insides were boiling. The tiebreaker set came and I was just hitting perfect shot after perfect shot. I ended up winning the game and we both qualified to championship level. It was the most exhilarating experience of my tennis career!

  2. When thay chick got stabbed ny a knife in the middle of that match. Its not the tiniest bit funny but ..............

  3. my moment is actually like yours but with a lot more luck

well the other guy was serving and i did a crappy job at returning it, this allowed him to unload on his forehand and he hit it cross-court where i was vulnerable but i barely got to it and I returned it with a crappy lob; he was getting ready to slam but i was man enough to face him so i started going closer to net like a genius (note the sarcasm). this is where my most memorable moment happened, he slammed it between my legs but i got a lucky trick shot by returning it between my legs and winning the point. i don't remember who won the match but I didn't care since that point made my day

  4. I once saved a match point in doubles by chasing down a sharply angled crosscourt volley and hitting a forehand passing shot winner up the line from outside the doubles alley and around the net post.  This was in high school, and we ended up winning the match eventually.  Definitely the best shot I ever hit and one of the greatest matches I ever played.

  5. First, I'll never forget the feeling burining the net player with a down the line backhand serve return.  They never expect it.  Also always feels nice to hit an overhead that ends up bouncing out of the fence.  Completely unreturnable.

But the one single shot I've had that pretty much everybody who was watching though "where did that come from?", was a backhand at the net.  I don't remember what happened leading up to this point, but it was one of those epic times when both doubles teams are at the net.  The rally had gone on for a while.  The other team hit a softer angled volley to my side.  It just kinda floated up for me.  Rather than stinging a volley back at their feel like I should have, I decided to try rolling it cross court (something my coach had been working on with me).  It was on my backhand side, and I just kinda brushed it cross court with tons of topspin.  It dropped just a foot or two in front of the net, just on the outside line of the doubles alley.  Perfect shot.  After it happened, we all just kinda stood there in awe.  After the match, the team coach asked where it came from, and I really had no idea.

  6. what i hit the ball so hard vertically thinking its going to fly over the fence but landed like a missile onto his side of court, unable to hit it from being blinded by the sun

  7. When I unleashed a backhand that was unbelievably fast from nowhere. The opponent was like "Wow, where did that come from?!".

  8. personal

I was playing in a regional college match.  The tournament jsut so happened to be in an area where i had family.  THey all came out to watch.  I loved it they were making noise and helped lift me out of a hole to win my first singles match.  it was great but not the most memorable.  Later in the tourney during my doubles match is when the memory happened.  My partner and i would do an Austrialian set up on all our ad points.  With my whole family watching i crouched down at the T busting the butt of my shorts open exposing my jock strap and bare butt for the remainder of the match.  which we lost with my butt being the star of the tourney.  I was runner up in singles after changing shorts.

  9. i was playing a three set match and we were on the 3rd. set. I was down 5-0 in the third and then i came back to win the last set and match.

  10. At 15-40 and my opponent prepares for a second serve. He does a smooth toss and-WHACK! Ball comes in contact with the frame and is thrown more than 30 feet into the air. But what was amusing was the serve was good as the ball landed into the service box, right near the net. It gave me the opportunity for a rare smash return. Turns out that it was hit with so much underspin that it bounced back into his side of the court, leaving me wrong footed and, worse, jumping over the net and falling onto his side. The serve was a clear ace. The umpire gave us and the audience a two-minute "laughing time." I won the game and the match eventually.
