Question:

What way should I face the ports on my subwoofer box?

I have all my dimensions right. Subs are facing towards the rear. Should I install my ports on the same side as the speakers or on the rear? Also does it matter if I mount my ROUND port against the corner of the box for support?

  1. same side as the speakers....towards the rear of the car just like ur subs

  2. Mount the ports on the same side as the speakers. Yes you can mount the ports in the corners.

  3. Put them on the same side as the speakers. If you mount the ports along the side of the box, however, then the tuning frequency will change for those ports versus if you were to have them spaced away from the walls. I would recommend either using a slot port and calculating for that using one wall of the enclosure or mounting the round ports away from the wall.

You should not have any trouble supporting the port itself. Just make the hole on the face of the box fit around the port snug and, if it makes you feel better, make the MDF 2-layers thick only at the port to support it. Also, be sure you have at least 1.5 x the diameter of the port between the end of the port and the back wall of the box.

  4. It all depends on the vechial.   If its a trunk car, you can fire it back with the sub or if you have space on beside of the box you can fire the port to the drivers side.  Make sure you space the port atleast port diameter from the back wall.
