What way would you recommend keeping financial records for starting a business?

i just curious on a good way to keep financial records? Also does the IRS offer any seminars for the owners of small businesses?

  1. Best comprehensive small biz resource around is the SBA (Small Business Administration). Lots of info & tools online, and if you're near a district office, it's definately worth visiting. Also SCORE is a free mentoring/business advice group of professionals helping small businesses.


  2. Get a good software, it helps. I use one too.

  3. Check with your local Small Business Development Center, usually sponsored by your local community college.  They offer courses in all areas of small business operations, including bookkeeping.  

    It's probably best to use a computer program designed for business bookkeeping, although you might get by with something like Quicken Home and Business.

  4. IRS does have a CD that explains the basics for a small business.  You can go to the    www.irs.gov site
