If you answer the question with legalize it then you are an idiot.

To be more precise if legalizing it is your solution than how do you accomplish that?

  1. either legalize it and tax the h**l out of it or make the penalties for use and possession so stiff that noone would dare touch them

how about life in prison for failing a drug test

dealers get the death penalty even for 1 sale

  2. Legalization of drugs, with heavy regulation as to the quality.  Tax it like cigarettes and alcohol, and provide services to those who are addicted to get off the addiction.  Make it illegal to drive while under the influence (which is already illegal anyway).  Pardon those who are sitting in jail for non violent drug crimes so we can free up the prisons for people that should be there.

  3. Legalize all drugs.  I am not an idiot for thinking that this is the solution, it's the only solution.

All the money that we are spending on the enforcement of drug laws would be saved, and could be used to supply something like opium dens.

In these places, drugs would be readily available to anyone who wanted them, and they could kill themselves at their leisure, without steeling, or hurting anyone else.  Societies have always had their fragile people who were unable to cope.  If we give these people, who are not intrinsically violent a safe place to escape, under controlled conditions, they would take advantage of it, and not be a problem for the rest of us.  Some would find a way to deal with life, others would not, but there would be a stigma attached to the use of these dens, and they wouldn't be so attractive to kids.  As it stands now, there is nothing for kids to see but the glamor of drug use, so we have a real problem.  If in order to get the drugs, they had to do it with other drug users, who were farther along in the debilitating effects of the drugs, I think that many of them would be scared off.

It is a little like making Alcohol only available in the company of a bunch of old drunks, no one would want to be one.

  4. Relegalize regualate and tax drugs. The constitution is made out of hemp. Money used to be made out of hemp. When marijuana was legal very few problems were associated with it. But  if you are going to still keep drugs illegal then cigarettes which kill 500 thousand people a year should be illegal too. The main reason tobacco is legal is the government makes a ton of money off of it.

  5. Why?  Drug Users are morons.  There are no societal pressures pushing people to or from drugs.   There is complete equality between the legal systems treatment of Caucasians compared to minorities.   Nope the drug war is awesome.  I get cheap merchandise from the products the police and DEA steal.  Keeps the prison system a growth industry.   Makes alot of people alot of money by prosecuting.

  6. Nothing I can think of will end the war on drugs. Prohibition didn't work and neither will legalization of drugs. The only way to stop it is if no one used it. No demand they go broke and stop manufacturing and selling it. Only in a perfect world is that going to happen.

  7. They won't they make too much money from the drug trade.  The war on drugs is a front.

  8. We can't without legalizing it. If we treat it like the Prohibition then it will only increase drug-trafficking under the radar, which increase the amount of money being poured into the drug business.

If we legalize it then people can smoke weed in their basements without fear of being arrested.

I don't think I'm stupid for suggesting this. Drug-users are idiots who knowingly harm themselves with these substances. They get busted because they can't stop even though it's against the law. By legalizing it, we let these idiots harm themselves in their basements without fear of being arrested.

They want to kill themselves, so let them.

  9. They should legalize the soft drugs, marijuana, LSD, Mushrooms, Mescaline, etc and the manufacture and sale would be run by the government.  All profits go into the treasury.  The legal age of use and possession should be 18.  As for hard drugs, I think they should be decriminalized in small amounts but it should be illegal to have large amounts.  Everyone has the right to put chemicals into their own bodies so users should never be persecuted like they are now.

  10. The same way they ended Prohibition.

Legalize it and then tax it.

There would BE no drug-related violent crimes if drugs were legal.

How many mini-mart owners kill each other over the price of beer.

That being said - I do NOT advocate the USE of drugs.

Only education can resolve that issue - whether drugs are legal or not.
