If you had to stay in a location that was both remote and inhospitible, and if you could only take 5 guns with you which would you take? To make this easier, no one is hunting you, i.e. in a war zone. You have a place to camp and plenty of water, but, no food! And large carivores are present, with large agressive game animals also. My thought is Alaska or Siberia or ?

MY guns would be (with ammo and spare parts)

Remington 870 12ga (with bird buck and slugs)

Mauser 8mm and scope

a .223 rifle such as a Ruger ranch

a .22 pistol with a long barrel

and lastly a Charter Arms .44spl Bulldog for defense

what would you have??

  1. I wouldn't even need purchase any new guns. I already have what I need.

    1. Marlin 1894 in 45 colt

    2. ruger blackhawk 45 colt

    3. stevens dbl barrel in 12 ga.

    4. Black jack bowie knife.

    5. my reloading equipment.

Notice that none of these guns have scopes or fancy mechanisms. I only need two types of ammo for three guns,

and these three will protect me and feed me whether its large or small.

Funny our forefathers needed only one or two guns to survive for years, and we can't imagine surviving 2 weeks without an arsenal to back us up.

  2. Mossburg 500 with 71/2 birdshot and slugs

    Springfield XD in 45ACP

    Ruger 10/22

    Marlin 444XLR

The new LCP by Ruger might be a nice hide out weapon

  3. yugo sks

    mosin nagant 91/30

12 ga mossberg 500 with the two barrels

    .357 revolver

    marlin 60

  4. 1. Tikka T3 Stainless .308

    2. Ruger GP100 stainless 4" .357mag

    ....done

Edit. Add some CCI #9 shot shells for the .357 and I've got everything that breaths on 6 continents and all but 3 animals on the 7th covered with 2 guns.

Edit: In response to a couple posts down. While Glock doesn't make a 6inch G20 there are 6inch aftermarket barrels.

  5. winchester 30-30, s&w 44mag, 300win magnum with burris scope, 220 swift with burris scope, colt 45

  6. Plenty of Ammo.

    1. 12 gauge pistol grip pump.

    2. .38 revolver

    3. Mosin Nagant with Bayonete

    4. 30-30 LAR

    5. .50 Caliber.... he he he

  7. I won't go into much details, but basically I'd take a 30-06 rifle (with scope), a .22 rifle, a 30-30 rifle, some sort of a 45 cal. pistol, and a 12 gauge shotgun.

  8. Knife, axe, machete rifle and shotgun.  If you mean guns only they would be: FN FAL 7.51x51 NATO caliber; .30-06 Steyr Manlicher Pro Hunter; Remington 870 12 gauge pump w/rifled barrel n rifle sights and extra smooth barrel.  Alaska or Siberia?  A .338 Win. Mag. or even a .375 H & H Magnum.  A Glock Model 20 10mm w/6" barrel, high cap mags and night sights.

    H

  9. I live in Alaska and I like your list except the 44 spl, a 44 mag would be better.

Alaska has many different environments, from dense old growth forests, river bottoms so thick with vegetation that you can’t see a animal 10 feet away, to vast open treeless tundra where you can see for miles. With that in mind you need a rifle that will stop a griz or brown bear and still reach out for long shots. So the 8mm would work ok but a 30-06 would be disputability better and a 300 win mag would be great!

Any 12 ga shot gun with the right barrel/chokes would allow for bear protection with slugs and hunting waterfowl, game birds and small game with the right shot.

A 22 pistol or rifle would be nice as its cheap to shoot and ammo weighs little for small game. I carry a Ruger standard or mark 1 22 pistol for small game and for trapping. It goes every where with me in a shoulder holster.

The bull dog 44 spl is a fine handgun for any critter up to a black bear with the right ammo at very close range but lacks the power in a griz attack. For that reason I carry a Ruger super Redhawk or Blackhawk in 44 magnum loaded with heavy 320 hard cast lead bullets in a cross over shoulder holster. The cross over holster allows me to draw either standing or sitting and tends to gather less debris than a hip holster. This is nice if you have to take a dump in the woods and are caught with your pants down as a bear attacks. Any handgun you can handle larger than a 44 mag would be even better.

The .223 would not be much use I hate to say. Bear, moose, caribou require a larger round. You would find it drawing dust from little use other than hunting fur bearers such as fox, coyote and the like. And a 25-06 would reach further for those animals.

Reading the others posts, it seems some are preparing for combat not survival. In remote areas of Alaska you may not see a human for months and if you do they will not be out to kill you. They would be more inclined to warm by your fire and share some tales and coffee instead. It’s the wild animals one should be concerned about, like being drug out of your tent at night by a bear.

No matter what hunting I do here, I carry my long gun, my 44 mag and a 6 inch barrel 22 pistol. This has worked for me for many years. If I get skunked looking for a moose, at least I can bring back small game for camp meat with the 22 pistol.

  10. first off, I've never heard of an 18 gauge. I looked it up and apperently it did once exist, good luck finding ammo though. there is a 16 gauge though. also glock does not make any weapon with a 6 inch barrel

    but to answer your question

Saiga or FN FAL .308 assult rifle with 5 20 round clips, 16 inch barrel and 3-9x scope, 200 extra .308 rounds for back up. this would be for hunting large or medium game as well as defense

20 gauge pump or semi automatic shotgun with no stock, 14 inch barrel. this for hunting birds as well as back-up personal defense at short range. 50 #7 1/2 bird shot, 40 buck shot, 5 slugs 5 rubber bullets for non-lethal defense.

Henry U.S. 22 folding rifle with 4x scope and 1000 rounds of ammo for hunting small game

Taurus 24/7 OSS tactical pistol in 40 s&w with 4 15 rounds clips plus 100 extra rounds for personal defense

    Kel-tec 9mm pistol with 3 10 rounds clips and 50 extra 9mm rounds for back-up personal defense

This give me a total of 1630 rounds, enough fo 3 meals a day for a year or more. and all this will fit either on me or in my large back pack along with my other camping/survivlal supplies for a total wieght of about 80 pounds. I weigh 230 so i am capable of carrying all of this. This set up work just as well for a war zone or not. Also, if say i ran into another person that could help me but was unarmed, i could let them use the 20 gauge and the 9mm. If i had a car, I would replace the 20 gauge and 22 rifle with a mossberg 500 and a ruger 10/22 and double my ammount of Ammo.

And yes, i had thought of this ahead of time, but in my scenario i had a sixth gun that was a .44 magnum revolver for defense against large animals. But i guess my .308 and 40 S&W would do fine in a pinch.

  11. Remington 700/Winchester Model 70 (Long Range/Big Game Hunting)

AK47 (Only because its dead reliable)

HK416 (Extremely reliable, and a proven battle rifle)

Benelli M4 (You always have space for a shotgun)

HK45 (.45ACP, and dead reliable also)

Most people are saying you need a shotgun for the birds, but what birds could you hunt in Alaska? A Golden Eagle?

  12. 1. Model 29 Smith & Wesson 44 Magnum (packs like a pistol shoots like a Howitzer)

    2. Colt AR-15 .223 w/30 round mags  (light wieght and lots of firepower)

    3. 12 GA. Shotgun (just about any pump will do but I favor my old side by side DBL barrel.)

    4. .22 cal. rifle/pistol (quite enough not to scare everything in the county away, but accurate and powerful enough to bring down smaller tasty game.)

    5. Hmmm. Large aggressive game, Alaska, makes me think Kodiak or Grizzly, ...I would tend to lean towards my old sweetheart, "Jennifer" a .308 and a piece of art. She never let me down when you had to reach out and touch someone.

  13. M16

    AK-47

    18 GAUGE SHOTGUN

    RPG (lol)

    G36C

  14. My 5-

    1- Napalm

    2- Nuclear Capabilities

    3- Military Support

    4- AK-47

5- An idling air strike team.
