cyndislist (link in above answer) is a catalog of thousands of genealogy resources.  Many are free, some are not.

If you believe you can go to ONE website, and completely find your total ancestry, that isn't what I define as research. Research involves the process of finding information, from many places. They won't all be free, they won't all even be online.
