  1. You can go to geneology.com or ancestry.com; however, I don't think there are any websites specifically tailored towards Middle Ages ancestors and, as with all other sources, the older the information needs to be, the less information there will be.

  2. Sorry, your question does not make sense.

There are hundreds of thousands of sites, directly or indirectly concerning genealogy.  In ORDER  to find ancestors in the "middle ages" , requires that you have done enough research, working from yourself backwards, so that if you WERE TO find someone in that time frame, you would know how to tell if they are (or are not) your ancestors.

Information prior to a certain time, can be completely unreliable, and without records to determine someone's parentage or relationships. This is not always the case.. if you descend from a Spanish king, you would realize this is who you need to be researching, and would be asking for specifics on Royal genealogy in Spain. Or Russia, or wherever.

One serious issue on the internet, is that persons find submitted information on any one of many sites.. making claims of such and such lineage.  Sadly, many new researchers have no idea of how those conclusions were reached, and since they don't know HOW it was done.. they have no way to determine if it is even real or fantasy. I personally think that computer viruses are easier to recognize and understand (and fight..at least there are virus programs on the market).

I have at least one line that is proven back to 1066. They do exist. However.. the fact that they exist, has nothing to do with which website.. but the documents or records, which connect one person to the other.  All of the research on this, existed, and was done, before there was any internet.

IF you asked for a way to find records of the landholders in Lincolnshire, before there were parish records.. someone would be able to point you in a direction for that. That is not saying that they are online, or should be. At least we would have a country to research.

At the risk of thumbs down, I am going to speak the truth, as I normally do.  It often is not the answer that people want, but what people WANT is not always going to be what they NEED.  You won't find anything, unless you know WHAT it is that you are looking for, and that requires being specific. Research to find your ancestors is not always going to be on the internet.  The question is if you want the information enough to go beyond the easy route. The reality is that the EASY route (in genealogy) is often going to give you information that is completely useless. And the worst part, is that you may not even realize just how useless it can be.

  3. I know for a fact, after searching for my own mother's family name and others on YA, that www.familysearch.org has listings of  at least in the 9th and 10th centuries. So does www.rootsweb.com--in fact, this man (Lord THOMAS of Coston, b.  1280  Berkeley, Gloucestershire,  England) could

    POSSIBLY be my mother's ancestor.

  4. I traced on line back to The 8th century.  Is there a Mormon Temple  with in driving distance to you?  In their Visitor Center is a Genealogy room, it's free to use and they have assistants there if you need help.

Sorry do not know of a free site but I recall that at one time an isp provider offered free service if you joined Ancestry.com
