  1. There actually isn't although you will be able to find references to studies done through various organizations how socialization for homeschoolers isn't an issue. One researcher had set out to prove how homeschooling was detrimental to a child's socialization and ended up proving the opposite.

Top paper that comes to mind where they refer to some studies on the matter is from the Fraser Institute http://www.fraserinstitute.org/commerce....

  2. These two will give you a pretty good read.

    http://www.familyebizmom.com/cgi-bin/arp...

    http://www.nhen.org/printfriendly.asp?ID...

There are a few other web sites that have factual information as well; here they are.

    http://www.nhen.org/nhen/pov/editors/def...

    http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/

    http://www.nheri.org/

    http://www.hslda.org/

  3. homeschool legal defense association

  4. Depends on how in depth you want it and how credible.  Your best bet is a large University library checking the white paper journals of Psychiatry, Phsychology, Sociology and Social Work to find the variouis studies.

There are hundreds of studies done and this and the most recent ones will give you refreences, including web sites, with previous studies.

  5. HSLDA

  6. What does this have to do with homeschooling?

  7. Ya know, this would be the most excellent opportunity I have seen yet for the anti homeschool community to prove their stance once and for all, siting all the studies "they" have done to "prove" homeschool students are not socialized.

But oddly, they are, once again, most silent.

Two specific links for you, and then you can use them to find more articles:

  8. Ok, I copied this right off the HSLDF (HomeSchoolLegalDefenseFund) website.  It's one of my favorite pieces of research regarding homeschooling and socialization.  Download the PDF at: http://www.hslda.org/research/ray2003/So...

    Socialization? No problem!

Every parent who homeschools has been through the drill: “Oh, you homeschool. Aren’t you concerned about your child’s socialization?” Even TIME magazine picked up on the question: “Homeschooling may turn out better students, but does it create better citizens?” (“Seceding from School,” TIME, August 2001.)

Homeschooling parents have known the answer for years: “No problem here!” But critics demand proof. Today, the first generation of homeschooled students has “grown up,” and there are enough homeschool graduates to begin to see how they are succeeding in their homes, in their work, and in their lives.

In 2003, the Home School Legal Defense Association commissioned the largest research survey to date of adults who were home educated. Conducted by Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute, the study surveyed over 7,300 adults who were homeschooled. Over 5,000 of these had been home educated at least seven years, and the statistics in this synopsis are based on their responses. The results confirm what homeschoolers have thought for years: “No problem here.”
