http://archive.org Hosts a ton of movies, music, and images.  Most of them are in the public domain, meaning you don't have to pay for them. The one draw back, a lot of the movies are old Hollywood films or public service ads, if you are looking for something more recent you might want to look somewhere else.

My favorite website is http://www.graboib.com.  I love the quality and the site says it is legal.  However, they only have movies and tv and not music.

You can look for movies and download them for free.

For the music, you can use limewire. (You do NOT need the Pro version, just the most recent version which is limewire 4.18.5)

As you've seen on other posts here the use of this type of P2P is sketchy at best. But, from a technical point of view it sounds like your connection or the senders has limited bandwidth or are you referring to the selection? - As the saying goes "Beggars Can't Be Choosy"
