  1. Try these people.

    http://www.thetrainline.com/default.asp?...

  2. Trainline runs the database for all UK train companies, but if you book directly with them you pay a £2 credit card fee. The same booking done with any train company would be free apart from the fare itself. Try East Midlands Trains, or RailEasy with a non-British credit card.

You will need to register but can pay by card & they deliver the tickets to your door.

You can also use any travel cards you may have etc. for online discounts.

  4. Book at a station to avoid the booking fee, you will need to purchase a ticket before you can make a reservation.

  5. Find out which Train operating company runs the route and use their website.

Try to avoid nationalrail.co.uk as they will only take you to another operators website to buy them.

Just a quick tip, Most sites are suggesting going down the ECML (East Coast Main Line) to york and change, which means National Express, Cross Country and later Trans Pennine.

Although the alternative is Haymarket to waverly and a direct trans penniene to manchester. Trains not so often as the ECML route.
