What website do you suggest for uploading your photographs and having prints and enlargements made?

I tried Ritz, but their system prevented me from getting larger than 4x6 and 8x10 on some of the pictures, and I'm looking to go larger. Can someone recommend a site or how I can save my work onto my PC at a better quality? I'm trying to embrace the Digital World, but it's not second nature.

  1. i've used shutterfly for a couple years.  quality is excellent, but it's a bit pricey when you get to the larger pics, 8x10 and up.

  2. No matter who you use, you must always size and scale your images yourself in order to get what you want.

In other words, if you want an 8x10 send them a file that's cropped to that size and at least 240 dpi (preferably 300 dpi).

Otherwise, you're at the mercy of a machine.

One thing you should always do it to shoot every image at your camera's highest possible jpg setting - file size and resolution!  That is the only way to ensure that you'll be able to make decent sized prints.

Ritz probably rejected your 8x10 request because you'd sent them an undersized file.

I am very happy with Shutterfly.  They've always done an outstanding job for me.  In fact, I use them for much of my pro work.

  3. Webshots.  I love this site!!!  Best of all you can download other stuff too.

  4. ritz isnt so good. i do like them for printing square pictures.

    use walmart.com or snapfish.com.

    they are pretty good.

and check your camera settings (use manual) to make sure the resolution is high enough
